Beckers frikandels topped with grated cheese, crispy potatoes, more grated cheese and thick gravy.
(((Cheese curds aren’t really a thing here in the U.K., very few places stock it)))
(((in fact out of all the main supermarkets* , only Tesco stock a Polish smoked cheese curd)))
*Tesco, Morrisons, ASDA, Sainbury’s, Waitrose, ALDI, LIDL, Co-op or Iceland

Layering is fine, shredded cheese is not.

...I had sausage and
sauerkraut for supper, but I think I want some of that too...

Cheese curds aren’t much of a thing here in the U.K. which I guess is quite odd considering how much cheese we produce and eat.

Because I love food and this is amazing.

This would be incredible with cheese curds

I had to look up what frikandels were; this is fantastic. I do agree with CB that cheese curds would take this to the next level but I’d still happily shovel this into my mouth.

Cheese curds aren’t really a thing her e in the U.K. but we’ve some great cheeses for it’s place.

Out of the nine main supermarkets, I can find only one, Tesco, that stock s a Polish smoked cheese curd in a 250g pack.

Frikandels are a Dutch deep fried skinless sausage and amazing.
Not to be mixed with the German frikandellen (hamburger).

You know, if it had cheese curds and “sweet” sauce, it wouldn’t be too far from Donair Poutine, the most sacred and traditional Canadian dish .
I think foreigners get a free pass for using regular cheese instead of curds. Canadians who do this, however, should be deported. No questions asked.

Oh man, I can’t eat sauerkraut, never have been able to.
But all* sausage is good.
*well, not Glamorgan or other vegetarian sausages (for me that is).

I was supposed to of done a car toady, arranged two weeks ago, cancelled an hour before turning up. Oh well.

That’s very similar to a Dutch kapsalon.
Chips, schwarma/doner kebab meat and cheese, baked for a few minutes to melt through and then topped with some salad and chilli sauce .
My version of a Dutch kapsalon.

Lol. It’s okay, don’t be cheese’d off about it, it’s not something to get em-mental about. Trust me, I’m not a Muenster. Put it out your mind before it’s makes you any an-gru yere.
The only supermarket to stock, but that’s not to say they’ll stock it in my county.

If this wasn’t crinkle-fry-based, I would destroy the hell out of it. (Crinklies are just too potatoey for me.)
The lack of döner meat
over here sucks way too much.

Can’t eat sauerkraut because you don’t like or it d
oesn’t make you feel that great, or? :P I use to hate it as a kid, but quite like it now! It’s popular here because of the large amount of German heritage in the area!

Food puns can be Goud-a, but must be done Caerphilly. I don’t make the Roule-s.

I’m not a big fan of cabbage. Though a fine torn Savoy cabbage leaf and white cabbage in mashed potato is really good.
White cabbage leaves and warm butter is also pretty good.

We have cooked cabbage once and awhile as well with lots of other veggies and weiners :)

Creamed savoy cabbage and spring greens are great with pork and mushrooms.
or roast chicken dinner.
Boiled cabbage with lamb is soo good.

So...what I hear you saying is that I am going to come visit and ship over the Accent so that you can give it a PROPER cleaning because you do such an insane job at it...and then you are going to make me a delicious dinner while I am there? :P
...I can bring some maple syrup?
![]() 10/03/2019 at 21:43 |

I’ve got the Canadian Maple Syrup.
So can make you breakfast
How about a Canadian Maple Syrup basted strea ky bacon naan (the naan wa rmed in the oven and then toasted on one side in the bacon fat).
or a breakfast burrito* (wrapped in streaky bacon).
*Mexican spiced minced beef with peppers and onions, wrapped in a tortilla and then wrapped in streaky bacon and cooked in butter.

I guess it’s an ok approximation, but as a Canadian, I’m appalled ...

If you’re French Canadian, it’s an occupational hazard.
There is a BBC show set in the Caribbean called Murder in Paradise. There is an English detective and when he offends the French Caribbean bar owner, Catherine , his colleague, Camille, says,
Camille:
I think you might have upset her.
Detective:
She's French, it's an occupational hazard.
Lol.
